Visa question

The Venezuela tourist visa (e-visa): who it is for and how to apply

I am travelling to Venezuela for a holiday. Which visa is it, and how do I apply online?

Each answer below is one entry from our rules base, with its source and the date it was last checked. Official rules quote the ministry or the U.S. Embassy; applicant reports are labelled as such.

Facts on this page verified through Sep 25, 2026.

Who the tourist visa is for

The MPPRE description of the Visa de Turista (T): granted to foreigners entering the country for recreation or leisure, health, or activities that do not involve remuneration or profit. The consular fee is to be consulted with the diplomatic or consular representation.

What to do: Choose the tourist visa for holidays, visiting family or friends, and looking at property without doing business.

E-visa online, sticker visa at consulates

The e-visa is only available online. Consulates issue a separate sticker visa through their own process.

What to do: Apply online for the e-visa. Do not expect a consulate to process an e-visa application.

Common mistake: Emailing a consulate about an e-visa application.

Passport validity and blank pages

How much the government fee is

Published figures conflict: no fee in April 2026 guides, USD 180 in a September 25, 2026 guide, and applicants reported USD 60 on September 24. Until a reviewer confirms the figure, rely on the fee the portal displays at the payment step.

What to do: Pay the amount the portal shows. Pay it in the portal only; nobody else collects it for you.

Common mistake: Budgeting from an out-of-date guide, or paying anyone outside the portal.

How long approval takes right now

Recent approvals took 2 to 13 days, with others reporting approval 10–30 days before travel. Apply 4–6 weeks before travel to leave room for one rejection.

What to do: Submit at least four weeks before you fly.

Common mistake: Applying the week before the flight.

How long the tourist visa is valid

The approved tourist e-visa has been reported as valid for one year from approval, with multiple entries.

What to do: Plan the application around the approval date, not the travel date, if you travel more than once.

Common mistake: Assuming the visa is valid only for one trip.
