The Venezuela e-visa for US citizens

Updated

A US passport follows the same six steps, with three US-specific points. Americans have no national ID card, so the passport number also goes in the identity-card field; Visa cards from large US banks are what applicants report working; and a US-passport child with a Venezuelan parent can enter on a tourist visa. Apply online only, per the US Embassy.

What differs for a US passport

  1. 1

    The identity-card field

No national ID card: enter the passport number in "Número de tarjeta de identidad" and upload the passport there too.

  2. 2

    One surname

Most Americans have one surname: it goes in Primer Apellido and Segundo Apellido stays blank.

  3. 3

    The card

Visa cards from large US banks were reported working; Wise and Revolut cards were declined. Call the bank’s fraud line before paying.

A child with a Venezuelan parent

On the US passport the child applies for a tourist visa like any applicant. Registering the child as Venezuelan means leaving on a Venezuelan passport.

Frequently asked questions

Yes, our rules treat US travellers as needing one: the tourist e-visa, applied for online only on Cancillería Digital, as the US Embassy’s notice on the e-visa process describes.

How much does the Venezuela e-visa cost?

Applicants report about $60 per solicitud plus a processing fee of about $3. No official source publishes the amount: pay what the portal shows, and only there. Every new solicitud is charged again.

How this works

  • Every step, mistake and answer rests on a rule in our rules base, with its source (official manual, reviewer, or applicant reports) and the date it was last verified. If a rule is withdrawn, that point disappears from the page.
  • Amounts, durations and limits come from one configuration with its own verification date; "Last updated" is the newest date of everything the page shows.
  • Written by us from the MPPRE manuals and dated applicant reports. We never quote or name members of community groups.
